3/ Insurance and financial guarantee

The professional activity of each notary in the office is covered by civil liability insurance taken out with Mutuelle du Mans assurances (liberal professions department, 14 bld Marie et Alexandre Oyon, 72030 Le Mans Cedex 9) up to 100 million euros per claim and without geographical limitation and, beyond that, by the Caisse régionale de Garantie des notaires – Paris 1 (12 avenue Victoria, 75001 Paris).

4/ Complaints against a notary

In the event of an unresolved dispute with a notary, you have the option of contacting the notary mediator via the website:  http://mediateur-notariat.notaires.fr , in order to attempt, with their assistance, to find an amicable resolution to the conflict. (Articles L 616-1 and R 616-1 of the French Consumer Code)

You can also write to the notary mediator to receive a form to complete and return.

5/ Applicable professional rules

The activity of notaries is mainly governed by Ordinance No. 45-2590 of November 2, 1945, Decree No. 45-0117 of December 19, 1945, Decree No. 71-941 of November 26, 1971, Decree No. 71-942 of November 26, 1971, Decree No. 73-1202 of December 28, 1973, the National Regulation of Notaries, the Inter-Court Regulation of Notaries and the Regulation of Notaries of the Company of Paris.
